How
Toyota wrapped up top California recycling award The Toyota complex on 190th Street houses about 5,000 employees, and was able in 2006 to divert 2,325 tons from going to the dump through recycling and waste reduction. Millions more pounds were diverted through the company's returnable packaging program throughout North America. Since applying for the award, it's also worked to become a zero- landfill-waste center by hiring a company to make sure every recyclable is plucked from its waste stream. Any leftover refuse that can not be recycled is shipped to the waste-to-energy trash-burning plant in Long Beach. Event PhotosSelect an image to view a larger version.
