Web Sites
- Lead Free Wheels—This
site promotes the substitution in Michigan of lead weights used to balance automobile
wheels with nonlead substitutes in order to reduce lead contamination of soil
and water.
- Mercury-Free Motorcycle Carburetor Synchronization Tools—If the
mercury in your carb sync is exposed to the air, it is most likely
evaporating. If the mercury ever spills, you will have a bigger problem.
Nonmercury alternatives are becoming available. If you know of others not
listed here, please let us know. For
information about the dangers of mercury and some ideas how to dispose of that
old mercury carb sync, see the WPIE mercury page,
or contact
Don Van Dyke.
- Morgan Carbtune—At
first glance, this looks like a traditional mercury manometer. However, the
vacuum tube lift columns are of stainless steel, not mercury.
- Tech Mate
Electronic Tools and Chargers—CarbMate
and
SyncroMate 2, are both mercury free. Both are designed for twin-cylinder, dual-carb motorcycles.
Both are adaptable to four carb engines with optional adaptors.
- Twinmax Electronic Carburetor Balancer—WPIE found this
balancer to be available for sale from several websites.
Unfortunately WPIE has been unable to find a website or any contact
information for the manufacturer of Twinmax. If you come across such
information, please let us know.
