State Agency Recycling Recognition (STARR) Award Program

Eligibility

 

All applicants for the 2002 Awards had to meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Programs must have been operating in 2002.
  • The application must be submitted by the State agency/facility responsible for implementing the Integrated Waste Management Plan mandated by the State Agency Model Integrated Waste Management Act (AB 75).
  • Programs must include significant involvement on the part of the State agency/facility that is applying.
  • Applicants must have submitted their 2002 annual report to the Board on or before April 1, 2003, as required by statute.
  • Applicants must meet the statutory 25 percent waste diversion mandate.
  • By October 31, 2003, applicants must have submitted to the Board as required a 2002/2003 (2001/2002 report for fairs and expositions, excluding Cal Expo) State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC) report.
  • Applicants must have adopted a written waste reduction statement or policy.

The following were ineligible:

  • Hazardous/household hazardous waste and medical waste programs.
  • Programs started in 2003.
  • Applications received after the due date of July 31, 2003, may not be accepted.
  • Efforts to reduce the waste of others (such as running a materials recovery facility) are not eligible. All programs must focus on reducing the waste generated at the applicant’s agency/facility.
