Barstow Waste Management and Environmental Purchasing Policy |

Business and Noninstructional Operations BP 3511.1The Governing Board recognizes the need to manage resources efficiently and cost effectively. The integrated waste management principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are consistent with principles of good management and environmental stewardship. Source reduction and recycling are necessary to reduce the impact on the environment. The purpose of this policy is to support the purchase of recycled and environmentally preferable products in order to minimize environmental impacts relating to our work. The Barstow Unified School District recognizes our employees can make a difference in favor of environmental quality. The District prefers the purchase of environmentally preferable products whenever they perform satisfactorily and are available at a reasonably competitive price. District staff should serve as positive role models to students and the community concerning conservation issues. The Superintendent or designee will implement a comprehensive and integrated waste management program that will include:
