The ReUse People of California (TRP)

Overview

The ReUse People of California (TRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with offices in northern and southern California. The mission of TRP is to keep usable building materials out of the solid waste stream and provide them for reuse. To further enhance its mission of salvaging usable building materials, it is also a licensed demolition (deconstruction) contractor.

Consulting

Offered to public and private property owners, developers, general contractors, and entrepreneurs. These services include, but are not limited to salvage and reuse plans and diversion certifications, materials marketing and feasibility studies, business planning for new materials exchange facilities, and project management.

Deconstruction

TRP is a licensed demolition contractor for commercial buildings, bank interiors, store and office interiors, municipal buildings, and military facilities. Deconstruction jobs have ranges from a 600 square foot residential addition to large military warehouses. Recently, TRP deconstructed three Warner Bros. Movie sets at the old Alameda Naval Air Station—this project diverted over 10,000 tons of reusable and recyclable material. TRP also deconstructed the Clock Tower at NorthStar.

Materials Exchange Facility

Open to the public. TRP salvages and sells used building materials, furniture, and other items for reuse. Materials are sold in their retail warehouse/store. TRP also sells new and used items donated by contractors, homeowners, retail stores, and manufacturers.

Materials Accepted

All types of reusable building materials including, lumber (longer than six feet), windows, doors, sinks, cabinets, roofing tile, flooring, siding, plywood, hardware, and building materials. TRP does not accept concrete, asphalt, or wood materials that need to be ground or crushed. TRP also does not generally accept appliances, shower or tub enclosures or doors, and single paned aluminum windows. Lumber donated should be stud length (8 feet) or longer. (Tax donation receipts available upon request.)

Collection Services

Limited services provided, depending on quality and quantity.
