Reuse Organization Profiles Habitat for Humanity ReStore, El Dorado |
||||||||||
OverviewThe ReStore is a successful operation wherein El Dorado County acquires donated, used, and new building materials. These materials are either used in building Habitat for Humanity homes or are resold to the community at below wholesale prices. Funds from the ReStore also help to provide future funding for local building projects. Not only is the ReStore a great source for affordable building supplies and material for the community, it also provides the opportunity for those in the building industry to clear out old stock and discontinued items thus reducing their disposal costs. By providing an outlet for these materials, everyone wins including our landfills. ReStore is proud to promote recycling to help protect our environment. HistorySince its founding in 1996, Habitat for Humanity, El Dorado County has built five homes. In 1999, Habitat for Humanity, El Dorado County opened the ReStore as a source of used construction materials for the general public in addition to the efforts of Habitat for Humanity. Materials AcceptedUndamaged construction and demolition debris, including appliances and various household goods are accepted as shown below. All materials are inspected for approval before drop off is allowed.
Source of MaterialsMaterial sources vary from individual citizens, to contractors and other local businesses.
