Reuse Organization Profiles Domin-Again |

Domin-Again is no longer providing the services listed on this page. This profile is being highlighted for reference purposes only.OverviewDomin-Again, an innovative idea for their community, is a garage on their campus which they turned into a free reusable "store" or distribution center. It is open to the public three times a month—the first Sunday of the month and every other Thursday. The emphasis is on reuse rather than recycling as a way to reduce what goes into the waste stream. Clean plastic packaging, blue sterile wraps, office supplies, and other non-medical materials are available to the public. This benefits individuals, schools, and other organizations who need access to free goods. Everything in the store is free. It is staffed by employees and volunteers. They see their material as a resource and are reducing the amount of non-biodegradable material being thrown out as trash, thereby saving on the hospital's waste disposal costs. Their best customers are those from the community associated with schools and day care centers, those interested in crafts and other projects. Dominican receives recognition in newspapers and national magazines, as well as from the county recycling coordinator for this forward-thinking idea. HistoryMembers of the Ecology Task Force came up with the idea of setting up a store, where materials that are collected by each department and are still useful can have another life. The idea was a result of seeing so many useful materials being thrown out.
