Reuse Organization Profiles Reusables Depot at the Arcata Community Recycling Center (ARRC) |

OverviewAs part of the nonprofit Arcata Community Recycling Center (ACRC), the Reusables Depot accepts and sells used and leftover building materials, hardware, gardening supplies and household goods (except clothing). The Depot also sells recycled paint from a local business that accepts old paint and mixes it to create new colors for resale. HistoryThe Reusables Depot has, in some form or another, been part of ACRC since its inception in 1971. With the help of a Reuse Assistance Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board, ACRC has expanded its facility in order to house the wide variety of building materials. OperationsThe Reusables Depot employs two full-time and one part-time employee. Their indoor/outdoor site occupies about 5,000 square feet. The Reusables Depot is a branch of the ACRC and relies entirely on donations brought in by the community they serve. All proceeds from the sale of materials goes to ACRC and its various programs. Materials AcceptedFunctioning used or leftover building materials, hardware, housewares (except clothing), furniture, electronics, gardening supplies, sporting goods, and more.
