A nnual Pennies and Peanut Butter Food Drive (www.feedoc.org/)—Orange County
Local elementary and middle school students participate in this food drive by collecting pennies, peanut butter, and other non-perishable food to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

"Scouting for Hunger Plus" Food Drive  (www.feedoc.org/)—Orange County
Boy Scouts throughout the county will drop off a donation bag to collect food and clothing items from residents in the community. The Scouts will return on Saturday, February 10, 2001 to pick up bags filled with food and clothes to be distributed to the needy by the Second Harvest Food Bank and Goodwill Industries of Orange County. The community may participate by marking their calendars and looking for the donation bag.

Food Residual Diversion Workshop —San Jose
Serving Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco Counties, this workshop is for owners and managers of food-handling businesses, local government representatives, and waste management professionals. Attendees will learn about local options for food waste diversion that keep food out of the landfill with little or no efficiency interruption. This workshop is co-sponsored by the City of San Jose, the California Integrated Waste Management Board, and the California Organics Recycling Council of the California Resource Recovery Association. Presenters and attendees will include representatives from local government, food banks, prepared food redistribution programs, animal feed programs, renderers, compost and vermicompost programs, waste haulers, health and safety programs, and the businesses that generate food waste.
