- QUESTION: How accurate is the information displayed in the Used Oil/HHW Profiles?
ANSWER: Information displayed in the Used Oil Profile comes from many sources within and outside of the Waste Board. The data displays are continually being reviewed for quality and updated with new information; however the ultimate accuracy of the information can only be as good as the source data supplied to us.
- QUESTION: How often is the information in Profiles updated?
ANSWER: Information displayed in Profiles is updated on a daily basis from the source databases. The source databases are updated on a schedule that is determined by the unit maintaining the database.
- QUESTION: I don’t understand some of the special words or acronyms you use in the Profile.
ANSWER: At the top of this Help Page is the word “glossary”. Click your mouse on the word to be taken to list of definitions of each term we use in the Used Oil Profile. The terms are arranged by page tab for your convenience. If you need more help, contact the Profiles Coordinator listed at the bottom of the tab page. After visiting the glossary, you may return to this page by clicking on the “back” button of your Internet explorer or navigator program.

QUESTION: Why aren’t there more details about used oil on Profiles?
ANSWER: Profiles is designed to give you summary information about various aspects of used oil collection in the CIWMB used oil certified center collection program. This provides a quick “big picture” of the datAnswer: Profiles also has links to other sites where you can get more information about programs, methods of waste diversion, and details about the data displayed.

QUESTION: How can I get more information on the topic that I am looking at?
ANSWER: There are several ways to obtain more information in a specific Profile. Located throughout the Profile page are links displayed as "More"; clicking your mouse on these links will take you to the source database for the displayed information. Also, some of the terms used in Profiles are displayed in color and are underlined. Clicking on these linked terms will take you either to a definition of the term or to a different web page where you can get more information and details. Another method is to contact one of the program staff listed in the Contacts tab. After visiting the link, you may return to the Profiles page by clicking on the “back” button of your Internet explorer or navigator program.

QUESTION: When will additional used oil data be available on Profiles?
ANSWER: Profiles staff is continually working with used oil data sources to expand and improve our information. As additional subject areas and measurements are defined and determined to work correctly, they will be placed on Profiles.

QUESTION: Where can I find other information now about used oil?
ANSWER: Information about individual city or county used oil collection from the California Integrated Waste Management Board at www.ciwmb.ca.gov. Profiles staff is working with the CIWMB Used Oil Program staff and other sources to provide additional data in Profiles at a future date.

QUESTION: How do I contact someone about the information contained on the Profiles?
ANSWER: Contact persons are listed on the Contacts tab for each Profile, or you may e-mail the Profiles Staff by way of the Profiles Coordinator link located at the bottom of each page.

QUESTION: What if information in Profiles is incorrect?
ANSWER: We are greatly interested in correcting any errors or misrepresentations. Contact one of the persons listed in the Contacts tab or the Profiles Coordinator. Please try to be specific about which information item is incorrect, the correction, and give us a phone number where we can discuss the error with you.

QUESTION: Who decides what information will be displayed?
ANSWER: Determination of the information to display in Profiles is made by the Office of Management Reporting Systems by working with Board Members, Board staff, stakeholders, and customers. We welcome comments and suggestions from our information users. Please contact the Profiles Coordinator.
