California Waste Stream Profiles: Home Page
California Waste Stream Profiles display high-level summary information about solid
waste management issues in California by pulling data together from numerous sources. Profiles
are currently available in the following categories:
jurisdictions, counties, facilities,
materials, legislative districts, and schools. The data shared is displayed in
using text, tables, charts, maps contacts, and links.
The profiles were developed at the direction of the Board to assist decision-makers and other interested parties by providing an easy to use and accessible location on the web. The Board is continually working to improve the way in which solid waste information and knowledge is collected, stored, shared, and displayed.
Statewide profiles provide summary information of all counties and jurisdictions in the State of California.
County profiles provide information relevant to California counties and their obligation to reduce solid waste disposal. These profiles provide specifics on such topics as waste characterization, diversion programs implemented, amount of waste being disposed, solid waste facilities used by and located within the county, state and local contacts, and assistance the CIWMB has given in the form of grants and loans.
Jurisdiction profiles provide information relevant to California cities, counties, and regional agencies and their obligation to reduce solid waste disposal. These profiles provide specifics on such topics as waste characterization, diversion programs implemented, amount of waste being disposed, solid waste facilities used by and located within the area, state and local contacts, and assistance the CIWMB has given in the form of grants and loans.
In Legislative Districts, you will find names and addresses of solid waste and used oil
facilities located in each California Senate and Assembly district. Districts and representatives can be found by using the
district by ZIP code locator. Maps and statistics for each district are available via links to Senate-and Assembly-related sites outside
the Board.
In facility profiles, you will find data about
solid waste facilities, used oil collection sites, and electronic products recycling centers located near your home or business as well as within individual California towns, communities, cities, and counties. This section has specifics on each facility for such topics as the site permits, location, and operations general information about each facility along with specifics on such topics as site and operational information, inspection history, enforcement orders, and cleanup/remediation action.
In materials profiles,
you will find statewide waste tire data, used oil, and electronic product waste along with general
information on these material types for each local jurisdiction or county. This profile
also provides specifics on grants given by the CIWMB, facilities and inspections of waste tire facilities within the local jurisdictions, and waste tire haulers.
In Schools, you will find public school district summary data on school waste diversion programs and education curriculum, along with general statistics about the district. This section also provides summary information on grants, awards and other assistance given by the CIWMB, contacts for more information, and links to school-related sites inside and outside the Board.
Profiles uses geographic information system (GIS) capabilities so that the user can locate a local jurisdiction or specific tire facility on a map and also see details such as roads, jurisdiction boundaries, landfill sites, tire sites, used oil collection facilities, transfer/processing sites, transformation sites, demographics, tribal lands, schools and school districts, and recycling market development zones and their participating businesses.
Profiles allows you to choose charts that compare the jurisdiction you selected with other similar jurisdictions. They also display information on jurisdictions for their reporting year as well as their base year, and compare jurisdictions by such factors as population, taxable sales, waste generation, as well as disposal.
The profiles serve as a window for the user to browse through summary displays of databases with considerable amounts of data. Every effort is made to provide and maintain accurate information; the quality of the material shown is directly related to the quality of the source databases.
