Special Panel Discussion: Closure Cost Estimate Dialogue

A special panel discussion will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Del Mar Room and may continue into the evening depending upon participant desires.

The purpose of the panel discussion is to provide stakeholders the opportunity to discuss current program requirements and the process for cost estimates and financial demonstrations. It is the intent of these workshops and discussions to solicit candid input and explain the process and necessities of the requirements while also being open to suggestions for improvements. This panel discussion is part of a series of workshops on this issue.

The areas of dialogue regarding the closure cost estimates are expected to include, but not be limited to:

To what extent the costs for equipment and environmental control systems that may be required for closure but are anticipated to be installed during the course of landfill operations be included in closure cost estimates and/or financial assurance demonstrations.
How the Board can carry out this program in an equitable and fair manner that does not inadvertently provide a competitive advantage.
