Landscape Waste Prevention Los Angeles Grasscycling Outreach Campaign |

The CIWMB provided $167,900 to implement the 2000 Los Angeles Grasscycling Outreach Campaign. This region accounts for approximately 26 percent of all grass clippings generated in the State. The Mow Down Pollution Task Force developed educational and promotional materials and implement a series of outreach activities designed to increase homeowners and residents awareness of grasscycling and divert thousands of tons of grass clippings from landfills in 2000. Goals
A variety of
educational outreach activities were implemented in 2000 and 2001,
including: airing Harlem Globetrotters Grasscycling Public Service
Announcements on cable television and radio stations; providing grasscycling
information on the Earth 911 hotline and web site; newspaper advertisements;
utility bill inserts; displays and posters at public libraries; grasscycling
signs at various parks; exhibiting a grasscycling demonstration booth at
various community events; and working with the Latin and Asian Gardeners
Associations to promote grasscycling to commercial landscapers in Los
