The Board provides a number of tools and information to assist local
government (as well as businesses) to reduce disposal, conserve resources, and help
California meet its waste reduction goals. Please visit
Local
Government Central to find tools under specific topic areas. The following
links take you directly to the databases and tools available:
-
Annual report, electronic (EAR). Board staff developed this tool
with local government users in mind. It enables jurisdictions to fill
out—and submit—their annual reports from the convenience of their
Internet-connected personal or workplace computer.
- California Waste Stream Profiles.
The profiles display high-level summary information about solid waste
management issues in California by pulling data together from numerous
sources. Profiles are currently available in the following categories:
jurisdictions, counties,
facilities, materials,
legislative districts, and schools.
The data shared is displayed in using text, tables, charts, maps
contacts, and links.
-
California Counties Disposal Destination Data—Maps. The county
destination maps show the total amount and percentages of waste from the
selected county disposed within its boundaries, in other counties,
and/or exported out of state.
- Diversion Rate Measurement
Calculator. The online diversion rate measurement calculator
helps jurisdictions calculate their diversion rates, using the
Board-approved
adjustment method to remove the effects of changes in population and
economic change on the jurisdiction's rate.
- The Countywide, Regionwide, and
Statewide Jurisdiction Diversion Progress Report (CRiS report)
provides both summary and detailed information on biennial review
status, diversion rates, and waste diversion program implementation for
all California jurisdictions. Users can group jurisdictions by county,
by specific geographic regions, or by the entire state. Users can
further customize reports by selecting criteria such as report year,
diversion rate range, and/or biennial review status.
- The Disposal Reporting System (DRS)
tracks the amount of solid waste disposed by each jurisdiction in California.
- Planning Annual Report Information System
(PARIS). Use PARIS as an informational tool when preparing annual
reports.
- The Waste Characterization Database.
The database provides
estimates of the types and amounts of materials in the waste streams of individual
California jurisdictions in 1999. This database is designed to provide
local governments with a tool to look at what's being disposed in their
waste streams to help them plan how to divert materials from disposal
and conserve resources. It looks at disposed waste only, so materials
that are typically recycled are not included in this data.
