Goals of the Workshop

  • Promote proficiency in landfill gas (LFG) monitoring
  • Familiarize trainees with accepted LFG monitoring techniques
  • Provide an understanding of LFG monitoring issues
  • Allow for discussion of state minimum standards using real world examples
  • Build experience quickly
  • Gain a basic understanding of California LFG monitoring standards
  • Develop an understanding of how different landfill gas monitors work
  • Compare results and techniques between attendees

  • Introduction to LFG basics
  • Introduction to LFG instrument operation procedures
  • Operation of LFG monitors
  • Monitoring for LFG 
  • Evaluating monitoring results
  • Hands-on monitoring in simulated field conditions
  • Discussion of state minimum standards for LFG

Summary

Twenty-five (25) attendees participated in this training at five locations throughout the state. Attendees were offered 6 hours of CEU credits for this workshop from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
