Solid Waste Permit Process and CEQA Refresher Course
Class Overview
This 2-day training highlights the solid waste facility permit process with a strong emphasis on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) linkages. You are welcome to attend no matter what your level of experience with the permit process and CEQA.
The link to the revised Training Guide based on the Permit Toolbox will be provided prior to the course so all can get a head start. The Toolbox, as well as the Training Guide, will be utilized during the course.

Class Objectives
- Increased knowledge of the steps in the solid waste facilities permit process
- Greater awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the many entities that participate in the permit process for solid waste facilities
- Greater insight into the relationship between the solid waste facilities permit process and the CEQA process
- Increased knowledge of the steps in the CEQA process
- Better understanding of the role and responsibilities of the LEA in the CEQA process as a lead agency and as a responsible agency
- Awareness of the tools and resources available to assist in navigating through the permit and CEQA processes
- Answers to questions involving implementation problems or concerns relative to the revised solid waste facilities permit application

Registration
Check-in is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Class will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end by 5:00 p.m.
Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) continuing education units (CEU) will be available.
Please register early so that CIWMB's training staff may accurately estimate the attendance at each venue. If the demand exceeds the capacity, a waiting list will be created with the possibility of additional classes being added to the schedule. If the demand is low, the class may be cancelled.
Registrants will receive a confirmation notice by e-mail, which will include training site address, room name/number, driving directions/map, and parking information. You will be notified via e-mail if the training site has been changed. Late enrollment may be possible, if space is available. Ask us, so that we can better meet your training needs.
Please do not share the classroom location information with others. When we need to change the meeting room location, we need to have an accurate list of attendees to notify. Also, unregistered individuals may go to the wrong location or find that the class was rescheduled. If anyone asks you for meeting room location, please ask them to correspond directly with the CIWMB registrar Monica Deese. Thank You!
