Compliance First: Evaluation of Solid Waste Facilities’ State Standards

September-December 2005
7 Classes Throughout California

The Public Resources Code (PRC) requires solid waste facility operators to protect public health and safety by managing waste in accordance with defined state minimum standards. The CIWMB developed this training course for LEAs, solid waste facility operators and CIWMB staff that perform fieldwork and inspections. The scope of the training focused on frequently violated state minimum standards. Facility types included in this training were:

  • Landfills
  • Transfer Stations
  • Composting Facilities and Operations
  • Chip and Grind Operations
  • Construction, Demolition and Inert Debris (CDI) Operations

The course included examples of violations, areas of concern and compliance with the most violated minimum standards. It encouraged discussion and exchange of opinion on each topic.
