Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) Training Compliance First: Evaluation of Solid Waste Facilities’ State Standards |

September-December 2005 The Public Resources Code (PRC) requires solid waste facility operators to protect public health and safety by managing waste in accordance with defined state minimum standards. The CIWMB developed this training course for LEAs, solid waste facility operators and CIWMB staff that perform fieldwork and inspections. The scope of the training focused on frequently violated state minimum standards. Facility types included in this training were:
The course included examples of violations, areas of concern and compliance with the most violated minimum standards. It encouraged discussion and exchange of opinion on each topic. Dates and Locations
SummaryTwo hundred forty-four (244) landfill operators and inspectors (Board and LEA) participated in this training at seven locations throughout the state. Attendees were offered continuing education unit credits for this training from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) workshop.
