Solid Waste Assessment Test Program: In 1984, the Legislature passed a law requiring testing of water and air media at all solid waste disposal sites which became the Solid Waste Assessment Test (SWAT) Program. In a 1993 memorandum of understanding, the State Water Resources Control Board agreed to submit a comprehensive report on this to the California Integrated Waste Management Board. This web site summarizes the work completed to date on the SWAT Program, and addresses both the impacts that leakage from solid waste disposal sites may have upon waters of the State and the actions taken to address such leakage. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Technology Innovation Office provides information on technological and educational tools and materials that implement the aspects such as project planning, and use of sampling and analytical technologies that serve to generate environmental data. |
