Sustainable Building Task Force (No Longer Active)

Purpose
Before formation of the Governor's Green Action Team, the task force worked to implement Governor Schwarzenegger's Executive Order S-20-04, which sets a goal for all new State buildings to be built to the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver rating. As a result of the formation of the Cabinet-level Green Action Team, the task force no longer meets.

The Task Force was made-up of representatives from various state agencies with expertise in green building components. Many of these agencies have existing programs that are working on the various green building issues. Much of the Task Force's work was done by a Technical Group with staff from many of the agencies also comprising the Task Force.

Former Secretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency, Aileen Adams, established the Sustainable Building Task Force to develop a strategy to achieve the sustainable building goal found in former Governor Davis' Executive Order D-16-00, and to implement the resulting 10-point plan described in Building Better Buildings: A Blueprint for Sustainable State Facilities.
