Building Better Buildings: A Blueprint for Sustainable State Facilities (Blueprint 2001)

Blueprint 2001 responds to Executive Order D-16-00, which Governor Gray Davis issued to ensure that State buildings are designed, constructed, and maintained in a "sustainable" manner. Blueprint 2001 was prepared by the Sustainable Building Task Force and reflects a unique collaborative effort of more than 32 governmental agency representatives, whose combined building, environmental, and fiscal expertise produced the recommended action items presented in the Blueprint. For information on current accomplishments and goals, download Blueprint 2003: An Update on State Sustainable Building Initiatives.

The implementation of Blueprint 2001 recommendations should impact significantly how the State of California invests over $2.5 billion annually in construction funds, as well as its infrastructure needs estimated to exceed $82 billion over the next 10 years.
