This
page provides links to tools which can help you find the person in your local
government waste agency that you want to talk to, and the person in the California Integrated
Waste Management Board (CIWMB) who works with your local government waste agency.CIWMB Programs and Services
- California Waste Stream Profiles—The
primary purpose of this directory is to provide high-level summary information
about solid waste management issues in California. However, it also lists
contact information for people in your local government waste agency, and
people in CIWMB who work with your local government waste agency. There are seven sections to this
directory. For state and local contact information, you will probably find the
following two sections to be the most useful. After you select a county and/or
jurisdiction, be
sure to click on the grey "contacts" tab near the top of the page.
- County Waste Agency Web Sites—Please note that if you live in
an incorporated city, these Web sites might not help you much.
- LEA Directory—The Local
Enforcement Agencies (LEA) are responsible for enforcing waste laws in cities
and counties. LEAs are designated by the county or
city and are
empowered to implement both CIWMB programs and locally designated
activities. LEAs are responsible for guaranteeing the proper handling of
wastes, but generally excluding air, water, and sewage related wastes.
LEAs also have the primary responsibility for ensuring the correct operation
and closure of solid waste facilities.
- Local Assistance Contacts—A
directory of
people in your local government waste agency, and people in the California
Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) who work with your local government
waste agency. There are four steps to using this directory,
select a county, wait for the screen to refresh, select a jurisdiction, click
on the submit button.
