General
Are there grants available for corporations resurfacing existing parking lots with RAC?
No, corporations and/or private entities are not eligible. Eligible applicants are cities, counties, and qualifying Indian tribes that fund public works project(s) located in California.
In the last two years, our city has completed street rehabilitation projects in which Rubberized Asphalt Concrete was used and we were wondering if those past/completed projects are eligible for submission.
Past or completed project(s) are not eligible for grant funding.
Eligibility
It states that the "RAC Use Grant Program is aimed at regular (repeat) users of rubberized asphalt concrete (RAC)". I know it states "aimed" but to clarify does that mean that no new applicants can apply. If new applicants cannot apply are there any other grants that are for new applicants for RAC?
Yes, new users can apply for a RAC Use Grant; however the Board has a better grant program, the Targeted RAC Incentive Grant Program for first time users or limited users of RAC.
Materials
About the RAC grant, does the minimum 1250 tons of RAC reflect on a single project or multiple projects?
The minimum 1,250 tons of RAC may be attained through a single project or as an aggregate of multiple project(s). In addition, the project must use 20 pounds or more of crumb rubber per ton of RAC and made from 100 percent California waste tires.
Funding
I would like to know if the entire sum of the grants is just devoted to the $5/ton for the RAC. Can other project expenses be claimed?
The total grant funds requested is based on the amount of RAC used for all proposed project(s) multiplied by the reimbursement rate of five dollars per ton ($5.00/ton). No other project expenses can be included in the grant funds requested.
Are we eligible to apply as repeat users for each cycle mentioned below, or is the $250,000 the absolute total we can apply for each year?
The $250,000 is the maximum total a jurisdiction can apply for each fiscal year. However, if there are funds available after the fiscal year, the Board may award funds to an applicant in excess of the $250,000 of the applicant maximum. The applicant should list all proposed projects and prioritize them.
