Waste Tire Playground Cover Grant Program Grant Profile: City of Lancaster |
|
|
Location: Jane Reynolds Park, City of Lancaster, Los Angeles County The City of Lancaster replaced the sand playground surface at the city-owned Jane Reynolds Park with a rubberized surface made from waste tires generated in California. The entire project was a cooperative effort between the Parks, Recreation, and Arts Department and a compliant playground surface manufacturer. The surface meets all American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards for safe fall height and is compliant with Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for playground access to those with limited mobility. This project diverted 1,275 waste tires from California landfills.
