Waste Tire Playground Cover Grant Program Grant Profile: Beaumont Unified School District |
|
|
Location: Sundance Elementary School, Riverside County The district wanted to increase overall safety of the playground by adding a playground/running area with proper design/layout made of recycled-content impact attenuation covering (pour-in-place) under outdoor running surface applications early in July of 2002. The pour-in-place mat surfacing is rubber--100 percent derived from recycled used tires. This will provide safety to students by meeting standards recommended by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), wheel chair accessibility, and a running/play area that is above nuisance runoff water, thus meeting Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. This project diverted 350 California waste tires from the landfills.
