State Agency Recycling Recognition (STARR) Award Program

Award Winners

STARR awards were available in each of several categories which vary from year to year. In addition, a STARR-of-the-Year award was presented if an applicant's program demonstrated waste reduction practices above and beyond those of the other applicants and served as an exemplary model for other State agencies and facilities.

In selecting the winners, the Board sought to recognize programs that, among other factors:

  • Have significant, quantifiable waste reduction.
  • Are cost effective.
  • Are evaluated for effectiveness and improved over time.
  • Have examined the waste generated and disposed to identify waste reduction opportunities.
  • Employ innovative ideas, methods, or technologies.
  • Include education and training components.

Profiles of the winning programs are available below by category, or you may access the information from the pages listing the winners for each year.
