State Agency Recycling Recognition (STARR) Award Program

Award Categories

 
Award categories available for 2002 awards were as follows:

Creative Partnerships: To recognize waste prevention and diversion programs that exemplify cooperation and coordination between public/public or public/private entities.

Construction and Demolition (C&D) Debris Management: To recognize programs that effectively divert construction and demolition debris from landfills.

Education/Training: To recognize training strategies and education programs that result in increased waste prevention and diversion program participation.

Green Building: To recognize effective and sustainable green building programs and/or projects that reuse materials, utilize recycled-content products, and are otherwise resource-efficient.

Organics Management: To recognize programs that effectively divert organic materials from landfills.

Recycling: To recognize effective and comprehensive recycling programs that include goal setting, strong education efforts, evaluation methods, and cost-effectiveness.

Waste Diversion at Public Venues: To recognize waste prevention and diversion programs at State agencies/facilities that have mass public attendance at their events, at their facilities, or on their properties.

Waste Prevention: To recognize effective efforts to institute reduction and reuse programs.
