Concord High School Recognized for Campus Recycling Project

On April 19, 2002, State Senator Torlakson and the Cal/EPA recognized Concord High School’s Academy program for its campus recycling project (see CIWMB press release). The project is run by 40 student volunteers who collect paper, cans, and bottles from classrooms and other locations around the school.

From every classroom and various other locations around Concord High School, students collect paper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles. The recyclable materials are placed in special dumpsters and containers on campus and later picked up by a disposal company for recycling into new products. Students in the audience at the press conference, held in Mrs. O'Brien's science classroom, listen to Senator Torlakson.
