School Energy Efficiency (SEE) Program

Program Goals

Educate Students

  • Teach students about energy efficiency through classroom activities, energy audits, and project-based learning.
  • Provide opportunities to apply what the students are learning in the classroom to help their families and communities reduce energy consumption.
  • Link classroom activities to school site energy-related facility improvements.

Support Teachers

  • Train teachers through professional development workshops on energy and environmental education.
  • Support State efforts to implement the School Diversion and Environmental Education Law.
  • Provide standards-based energy education resources that complement the district’s curriculum plan, needs, and budget.

Improve School Facilities

  • Train facility staff on energy efficient technologies and building practices.
  • Benchmark and track the energy use of district buildings to reduce energy consumption and prioritize energy-efficient investments.
  • Provide comprehensive energy audits and technical assistance.
  • Develop demonstration projects to showcase the installation, operation, and maintenance of energy-efficient technologies.
