The Siskiyou County Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) includes the County of Siskiyou in total, including the incorporated cities of Dorris, Dunsmuir, Etna, Fort Jones, Montague, Mt. Shasta, Tulelake, Weed, and Yreka. The zones "top of the state" location along the Southern Pacific rail and Interstate 5 corridors provides direct transportation routes to the rest of the state, as well as Oregon, Canada, and Mexico. The Siskiyou County RMDZ includes the Shasta Valley Enterprise Zone. IncentivesSiskiyou County has established an excellent network of organizations, programs, and projects that provide incentives to both existing and new recycling-based businesses. The organization responsible for coordinating the incentive package is the Siskiyou County Economic Development Council. Incentives include rapid permit processing, feedstock acquisition assistance, planning fee refunds, a business incubator, employee training programs, connection fee waivers, land incentives, enterprise zone incentives, hiring credits, and funding assistance. Target MaterialsTargeted materials available for manufacturing include waste wood, mixed paper, plastic, compostable wastes, glass, and drywall. InfrastructureBusinesses locating in Siskiyou County will enjoy the benefits of an excellent I-5 interstate transportation network, rail service, seven airports, reasonable land cost, low taxes and development fees, reduced utility costs, a large labor pool with excellent local training resources, and other well-developed infrastructure. Siskiyou County will assist in obtaining financing industrial park improvements for tenants exceeding existing infrastructure capacity.
