Disposal Advisory: Recalled Toy Disposal Information

California Integrated Waste Management Board recognizes that recently a large amount of toys have been recalled. To best protect human health and the environment, we ask that you not place these items in your household trash. The proper management of these recalled products is to return these items to the manufacturer, so they can properly complete the disposal of the recalled toys. Recent news on recalls of various toys has raised questions about which toys are included in the recall and what you should do if you have one of the affected products. List of Recalled ToysThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls and Product Safety News website provides detailed information on the recalled products and describes actions you can take to return the product to the manufacturer for a refund or voucher. Recall notices provide contact information for the manufacturer and background information on the problem that resulted in the recall. Return Recalled ToysMattel, Inc maintains information a list of their recalled products, along with instructions on how to return the product free of charge and receive a voucher. The Department of Health Services website has contact information for the local program near you. Other Disposal InformationIf you choose to not return the product to the manufacturer for a refund and are unsure of how to properly dispose of these products, please contact your local waste hauler. In regions without curbside pickup, contact the solid waste facility operators in your area. |
