Help for California Waste Stream Profiles
Glossary
Below are short descriptions of the jurisdictions, facilities,
and materials profiles. Information within a profile is grouped and
displayed under various tabs at the top of the page. Each profile includes some unique
tabs as well as overview, contacts, and map tabs.
This profile provides waste stream information for a selected jurisdiction.
Some jurisdictions report their waste management data to the CIWMB as part of a
a regional agency or joint powers authority, in which case the profile provides
the summary data.

Displays various jurisdiction-specific information such as business materials generators, household materials collection,
business
disposal rates, and household/business waste rates. |
| Waste Flows |
View overall waste stream diversion and
disposal data for the selected jurisdiction. |
| Planning |
View California Integrated Waste
Management Board actions, and the status of local government solid waste planning
documents, reports and implementation efforts. |
| Assistance |
View recognition and
assistance a city or county has received from the CIWMB. |
| Contacts |
Lists CIWMB staff contact information for the California Waste Stream Profiles. |
| Map |
Displays a map with interactive map of the
jurisdiction. You can choose to display a variety of information on
the map, such as the location of landfill sites and transfer/processing sites. |
| Charts |
View graphical comparisons of solid waste disposal
and generation for similar jurisdictions. |
This profile will allow the user to view information display on a facility. A
geographical search can be conducted for facilities within a specific area or an
individual facility may be requested. Currently, only facilities that deal with waste
tires are displayed. It is anticipated that other facility types, which may include active
and closed landfills, certified used oil centers, waste transfer stations, etc. will be
incorporated into future Profiles (dates unknown). This information is presented in topic
folders with tabs labeled as follows:

under the Contacts tab. Those contact persons are shown along with their telephone # and a

After selecting the Map tab, you can choose a variety of information on a
jurisdiction map, such as the location of landfill sites and transfer/processing sites. |
This profile provides selected information for various materials in the waste
stream. Although currently only waste tire information is displayed, the CIWMB
anticipates providing information for other types of materials such as used oil.

| Site Info |
Displays a list of waste tire sites and a brief bit of information about
their permit status and inspection history. Also a list of sites is provided with links to
the facility page for those sites. |
| Haulers |
Provides an alphabetical list of registered waste tire haulers that are
headquartered in the jurisdiction requested. |
| Contacts |
CIWMB staff contacts for the California Waste Stream Profiles are listed
under the Contacts tab. Those contact persons are shown along with their telephone # and a
direct link to their email address. |

| Schools |
Displays an alphabetic list of schools for that district. |
| Assistance |
Provides a list of Awards, Grants, and Education benefits provided by CIWMB to the District or School. |
| Disposal |
Displays calculated amounts of disposal for a given District or School based on a limitied survey of approximately 100 mostly Southern California Schools |
| Contact |
List telephone and email addresses of Local and State individuals for contact concerning solid waste issues in Schools. |
Q. How accurate is the information displayed in the Profiles?
A. Information displayed in the profiles comes from many sources from within and
without of the Board. Review of the data quality and information sources are continually
being reviewed and updated with new information. The information display is only as good
as the source data.
Q. How often is the information displayed in Profiles updated?
A. Information displayed in Profiles is update on a daily basis from the source
databases. The source databases are updated on a schedule that is determined by the unit
maintaining the database.
Q. When will additional Profiles be available?
A. Profiles are continually being looked at for additions and improvement. Once
additional subject areas are determined work will be started to place them in the
Profiles.
Q. How do I contact someone about the information contained on the Profiles?
A. Contact persons are listed on the Contact tab for each profile or you may email the
Profiles Staff by way of the Profiles Coordinator link located at the bottom of each page.
Q. What if information in Profiles is incorrect?
A. Contact one of the persons listed on the Contact tab or the Profiles Coordinator.
Q. Who decides what information will be displayed?
A. Determination of what information is display in Profiles is determined by the Office
of Management Reporting System working with Board Members and staff, stakeholders, and
customers to determine what information should be displayed.
Q. How can I get more information on the topic that I am looking at?
A. There are two ways to obtain more information on a specific profile. Located
throughout the Profiles are links displayed as "More"; these links will take you
to the source database for the displayed information. The second method is to contact one
of the program staff in the Contact tab.
The information icon can be modified to show thenumeric panel id
for the corresponding data panel. Simply add '&MD=1' to the end of the URL of
the page that you are currently viewing, or click on this link and
then refresh the
page you are viewing.
If you would like to disable the numeric panel view,
then add '&MD=0' to the end of the URL or click on this link
and then refresh the page you are viewing
