Trade Show Promotes Recycled Products That Help the Environment, Businesses, and GovernmentSACRAMENTO—New hardwood flooring from reclaimed lumber, retaining wall blocks made of recycled concrete, landscape irrigation pipes molded from reused plastic, and more fascinating products for businesses and public places will be on display at the fifth annual Recycled Product Trade Show hosted by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the state's primary recycling agency, and other public and private agencies. The show will be held in the Sacramento Convention Center on March 10-11, 2004. Located in the heart of downtown Sacramento in the center's 134,000-square foot exhibit hall at 1301 L Street, the trade show commences at 9 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m. each day. Billed as the premiere West Coast event of its kind, the trade show promotes recycling-based businesses and the use of recycled-content and environmentally preferred products. More than 100 exhibitors and over 2,000 buyers, specification writers, project managers, and support staff are expected to attend the two-day show. "This is an informative show that gives business people a chance to handle products made from recycled materials and ask exhibitors about their wares and experiences," said Board Chair Linda Moulton-Patterson. "Education and awareness are the first steps to changing 'business as usual'." The trade show will coincide with a March 8-10 California Resource Recovery Association conference at the convention center, giving attendees a double dose of environmentally friendly, waste-cutting perspectives. This year's Recycled Product Trade Show highlights sustainable building products and services that can save money in the long run, help create jobs, produce value-added goods with materials diverted from the waste stream, and meet the procurement needs of government agencies and businesses interested in minimizing their impact on California's limited natural resources. The annual event draws together thousands of business representatives from around the nation to meet one-on-one with vendors of recycled-content products and learn first-hand about new items and emerging market trends. The six-member California Integrated Waste Management Board promotes a zero waste California in partnership with local government, industry, and the public. This means reducing waste whenever possible, promoting the management of all materials to their highest and best use, and protecting public health and safety and the environment. |
