Cruz Island Clean-Up: Thanks to a partnership of public and nonprofit organizations, a precious jewel of California's coast is being restored to its natural habitat. This week,
a major clean-up project on Santa Cruz Island is being completed, accelerating an ambitious restoration project led by The Nature Conservancy and supported by

National Tire Safety Week: Chair Margo Reid Brown kicks-off National Tire Safety Week in San Francisco along with the Rubber Manufacture’s Association, AAA of Northern California, Chevron and the City of San Francisco. The kick-off included conducting tire safety checks and filling air for all vehicles in need. See video (Windows Media, 282 Kbps, 2:33 minutes).
Time for the Great American Clean Up! Chair Margo Reid Brown participated in the national kickoff of the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup. The event took place at the historic Old Town Sacramento Railroad Museum. Huell Howser played emcee for the event as the guest speakers delivered remarks in the tradition of a “whistle stop tour” on the platform of a railway car. Learn more about the

Big Check for Big Effort: Board Member Rosalie Mulé has been making the rounds to present "big" checks to local jurisdictions that have received grants from the Integrated Waste Management Board. In March member Mulé visited City of Solana Beach, City of Moreno Valley and, pictured here, the City of Encinitas. These presentations have provided a great venue for the Board to get feedback from our grantees and build stronger relationships with our local partners. Member Mulé has been an outstanding advocate for the CIWMB programs and mission.
The Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) recognizes five California businesses that have surpassed even the lofty accomplishments of other 2007 WRAP winners. These five California businesses are being awarded the honor of being recognized as this year's
WRAP of the Year (WOTY) winners for their outstanding waste-cutting efforts to reduce nonhazardous waste and send less garbage to our landfills.
Green Electronics Champion
California Integrated Waste Management Board wins honors from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Green Electronics Council. Accepting the award, Chair Margo Reid Brown attended the ceremony.
