The technical appendices (from the Business Users' Guide for Measuring Source Reduction) provide background information on pallet reduction and reuse, wood waste stream, quantification methodologies for various pallet-waste prevention activities, and evaluation of quantification methodologies followed by testing of quantification methods.

The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension Waste Management and Recycling Program and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under a cooperative agreement, jointly developed measurement techniques for waste prevention activities which are common to many large businesses and to provide measurement guidance for companies.
