Growers are increasingly using mulch and compost as part of their overall soil management programs, to increase soil tilth, water retention, and crop vigor, and to suppress disease in selected crops. In addition to sponsoring many agricultural demonstrations, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has compiled valuable information on locating compost and mulch sources, and assessing its quality. For more detailed information on completed and ongoing projects, visit the compost and mulch field demonstrations page.
