The California Integrated Waste Management Board has developed the Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) program to combine recycling with economic development to fuel new businesses, expand existing ones, create jobs, and divert waste from landfills. The Board has developed case studies to feature businesses that use the RMDZ program to assist jurisdictions to help support efforts to implement diversion programs and to maintain existing waste prevention, reuse, recycling and composting programs.
