Countywide, Regionwide, and Statewide Jurisdiction Diversion Progress Report

Step-by-step instructions

This report provides information on biennial review status, diversion rates, and waste diversion program implementation for California jurisdictions. Information can be requested for any county within California, specific geographic areas, or the entire state. Users can obtain customized reports by selecting different criteria such as geographic location, report year, diversion rate range, and/or biennial review status.

Steps 1 and 2. Select how to view the diversion rate data geographically

View data by county

  • For geographic criteria, select "By California County."
  • Select the county you wish to view in the "California County" drop-down menu.

View data by region

  • For geographic criteria, select "By Geographic Area."
  • Select the region you wish to view in the "Geographic Area" drop-down menu.

View data for the entire state

  • For geographic criteria, select "By Geographic Area."
  • Select "Entire State" in the "Geographic Area" drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select a report year

  • Select a year from the "Report Year" drop-down menu.

Step 4. Select diversion rate range and/or biennial review status

  • Select the criteria for sorting a report, including the diversion rate range and/or the biennial review status.
  • You can limit your search by one or both of these factors.

Diversion rate range

  • Select a diversion rate range from the "Diversion Rate Range" drop-down menu, or select "All Diversion Rates" to view all diversion rates for a jurisdiction.  Six diversion rate ranges are available, including the "No Rate" option.  Choosing "No Rate" displays all the jurisdictions that could not determine a diversion rate due to inaccurate base-year data, a Board-approved base year that is later than the report year, or other issues.

Biennial review status

  • Select a biennial review status from the "Biennial Review Status" drop-down menu, or select "All Review Status" to view all status types.

Step 5. Run the report

  • If you wish to clear any options selected in the report and show the default selections, select "Reset."
  • Select "Go" to generate a report.  The report displays a list of jurisdictions, the diversion rate for that year, biennial review status, and the number of waste diversion programs implemented by the jurisdiction.  Select biennial review status definitions for detailed descriptions of the types of biennial review status codes.

Get more detail about a diversion rate

  • To view final diversion rate calculation data for a report year, select a jurisdiction's biennial review status.

Calculate a diversion rate

  • By selecting the biennial review status "Preliminary Data: Worksheet Calculation (ability to change amounts)," a jurisdiction can calculate their diversion rate.  For more information about calculating diversion rates, see on-line diversion rate measurement instructions.

View a jurisdiction’s waste diversion programs

  • To view the waste diversion programs implemented by a jurisdiction for a report year, select the number of programs implemented by a jurisdiction.  For more information about waste diversion programs, see the Planning Annual Report Information System (PARIS).

OK, I'm ready to run a report!
