Orientation for New Local Enforcement Agency Staff 

Welcome new local enforcement agency (LEA) staff! We are glad that you are a part of the LEA community and a new member to the unique partnership between the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and the designated local enforcement agencies. 

We have put together an electronic orientation to help you. These resources are intended to provide an introduction to the CIWMB, Board Members, Board programs, and to provide you with some handy web links in an effort to ease your transition into your new role. LEA Central is the key information resource for Local Enforcement Agencies (LEA). Use this site to access all LEA-related information. *Helpful hint: use the index to navigate these pages.

Permitting and Enforcement Division program descriptions and responsibilities.

Permit Toolbox contains links to the various tools and resources developed by the Board's Permitting and Inspection Branch.

County and City Assignments lists Permitting and Enforcement (P&E) staff assigned to each county or designated city jurisdiction. 

LEA Training lists all upcoming trainings offered by the CIWMB's LEA Training and Special Assistance Section specifically for the LEAs and Board inspectors. 

LEA Evaluations contains information on LEA evaluation procedures, schedules for upcoming evaluations, and helpful links to services and programs.

LEA performance standards for inspections, permitting, enforcement, closure, and postclosure.

LEA Advisories communicates Board staff advice and technical expertise to the local enforcement agencies.

Grants and Loans lists information about the grant and loan programs currently offered by the Permitting and Enforcement Division of the Integrated Waste Management Board.

California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH) is comprised from 58 jurisdictions, including both counties and cities. Associate membership is open to all environmental health professionals.

LEA Roundtable Meetings are quarterly meetings held throughout California that allow Board staff and LEAs to discuss policies, regulations, and issues.

Enforcement Advisory Council (EAC) describes what they do and who they are. Also lists upcoming meetings and events such as LEA Roundtables and EAC meetings.
