Goals of the Workshop:

  • Gain a basic understanding of California Landfill Gas (LFG) monitoring standards
  • Develop an understanding of how different landfill gas monitors work
  • Compare results and techniques between attendees

Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to landfill gas (LFG) basics
  • Introduction to LFG instrument operation procedures
  • Operation of LFG monitors
  • Monitoring for LFG 
  • Evaluating monitoring results
  • Hands-on monitoring in field conditions
  • Discussion of State Minimum Standards for LFG  

Summary

Fifty (50) people attended the training including representatives of solid waste facilities, LEAs, and CIWMB. Attendees were offered 5 hours of CEU credits for this workshop from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
