Universal, Electronic, and Radioactive Waste Class Announcement: Red Bluff, June 24, 2008

A new class has been added. It will be held in Red Bluff on June 24, 2008.

Universal, Electronic, and Radioactive Waste Classes

This one-day class will focus on three types of waste that are now prohibited in the solid waste stream:

  • Universal waste
  • Electronic waste
  • Radioactive waste

This class will provide a forum for operators, LEAs, CIWMB staff and other interested parties to review existing practices and discuss compliance strategies.

Class Objectives

  • Interpret the applicable regulations on universal and electronic waste
  • Interpret the standards for ionizing radiation in solid waste
  • Discuss monitoring for ionizing radiation and appropriate responses
  • Review common violations for landfills and transfer stations as well as proactive and preventative management practices

Who Should Attend?

  • Local enforcement agency staff
  • CIWMB staff
  • Landfill, transfer station and other solid waste facility operators and employees
  • Other interested parties
