This all LEA e-mail was sent on behalf of the LEA Training and Health and Safety Branch of the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB).
Universal, Electronic, and Radioactive Waste Classes
This one-day class will focus on three types of waste that are now prohibited in the solid waste stream:
- Universal waste
- Electronic waste
- Radioactive waste
This class will provide a forum for operators, LEAs, CIWMB staff and other interested parties to review existing practices and discuss compliance strategies.
Class Objectives
- Interpret the applicable regulations on universal and electronic waste
- Interpret the standards for ionizing radiation in solid waste
- Discuss monitoring for ionizing radiation and appropriate responses
- Review common violations for landfills and transfer stations as well as proactive and preventative management practices
Who Should Attend?
- Local enforcement agency staff
- CIWMB staff
- Landfill, transfer station and other solid waste facility operators and employees
- Other interested parties
