Subject: Election of New Chair-Response to Enforcement Advisory Council Resolution 2007-04

Dear Mr. Strickland:

This letter from the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) is in response to Enforcement Advisory Council (EAC) Resolution 2007-04, dated July 2 and passed at the June 19, 2007, EAC meeting.

This EAC resolution announces your election as the new Chair of the EAC, replacing Robert Wiechert, who recently retired from Merced Co. LEA. Congratulations on your new position.

Your extensive knowledge and experience as an LEA, in addition to your experience as Chair of the Northern Round Table, and as a member of California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH) Solid Waste Policy Committee's Technical Advisory Committee will greatly enhance the accomplishments of the EAC along with the highly competent Co-Vice Chairs, Bill Prinz, (City of San Diego LEA) and Sue Markie, (MSW Facilities and Enforcement Assistance Section B, CIWMB).

We rely on the EAC to provide feedback and assist the CIWMB in implementation of enforcement programs, trainings, technical matters and regulations and we encourage the EAC and its membership to maintain a strong relationship with the Board member offices as well.

The EAC's role and efforts in the statewide consistent enforcement of solid waste mandates and effective solid waste management are highly valued.

We continue to support the EAC's efforts in compiling LEA comments on technical matters, which help shape the outcome on areas of mutual concern in solid waste management.

The CIWMB looks forward to continuing to work with EAC to further our success at coordinating an effective consistent statewide solid waste enforcement program and assuring that LEA and CIWMB interests and training needs are being met.
