Landfill Closure Loan Program

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) will be awarding $640,000 in competitive, interest-free loans for the 2007/2008 funding cycle. Eligible applicants are operators of older-technology, unlined landfills who desire to close early to avoid or mitigate potential environmental problems caused or threatened by continued operation of the site.

Landfill Closure Loan Program (LCLP) loans are awarded on a competitive basis. The CIWMB announced an original notice of funding availability (NOFA) with an application deadline of January 2, 2008 and is now announcing a second NOFA with an application deadline of March 3, 2008. Applicants must complete and submit an application by the Monday, March 3, 2008 deadline. The LCLP anticipates awarding loans by June 30, 2008 with maximum loan amounts not to exceed $500,000 per landfill project. Loans must be repaid over a period not to exceed ten (10) years.

For more information on the LCLP or to receive an application by mail, please contact Bernard Vlach.
