The FY 2007/08 grant application period is now closed.
The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) grants are available to help local
governments establish or expand HHW collection programs. California cities,
counties, and local agencies, including Indian reservations and rancherias, with
direct responsibility for HHW management are eligible to apply.
The HHW 16th cycle offered two different type of grants: Countywide Coordination and Infrastructure.
Grant Awards
Countywide Coordination (HD16C) |
Infrastructure (HD16F)
This material is provided for information only and should not
be used to apply for subsequent grant cycles. Each type of grant had it’s own
unique application package materials and rules. However, the Application
Instructions were used for both application packages.
The application deadline for this cycle was June 8, 2007.
The countywide coordination grant is not competitive
and provides funds to each countywide area to bring stakeholders such as
governments, water, air and waste agencies, industry, and the public together to
discuss the most cost-efficient methods of collecting and processing the
sharps/u-waste materials. The grant uses a streamlined application and
simplified final report. Coordination grants will be given to any county that
applies and commits to complying with grant terms and completing its
requirements to be lead coordinator for their countywide or regional area.

Application Package: Infrastructure Grant
The infrastructure grant is similar to previous cycle HHW competitive grants for individual or multi-jurisdiction projects, except that extra scoring points will be given to projects that focus on sharps/u-waste, such as designing or building new collection facilities, upgrading to add sharps/u-waste capacity, or developing innovative sharps/u-waste reduction and collection programs. Rural, small city, and regional projects also receive preference points.
