Cal/EPA Household Hazardous Waste & Used Oil Program Awards

The following relates to the May 2000 awards that were already presented.

Eligibility & Criteria | Award Categories

Introduction

Cal/EPA's Household Hazardous Waste/Used Oil Program awards are intended to promote and recognize local programs engaged in pollution prevention, hazard reduction, waste stream toxicity reduction and recycling. This is accomplished by recognizing several programs, agencies, and individuals in various categories for their HHW/Used Oil program activities in calendar year 1999.

Awards were made in each category as called out below based on the nominations RECEIVED on or before the entry deadline of close of business (5:00 PM) on Friday, April 14, 2000. The Awards Committee reserves the right to award none, one or more award in each category based on the quality of the nominations received.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • The awards are open to all California household, household/CESQG, used oil, and recycle-only programs. All are invited to submit nominations for their programs, processes, or people fitting the award category criteria. More than one entry may be submitted for a program, i.e., a program may be nominated in more then one category.
  • All California programs are eligible except 1999 award recipients in their respective winning category(ies), i.e., winners may not compete in the same category in consecutive years. 1999 award recipients may apply again in their winning category in 2001.
  • All nominees must be in good regulatory standing, i.e., compliance.
  • All nominees will be judged against the criteria listed for the award category. The Awards Committee reserves the right to solicit additional information from the nominees.
