Minimum Requirements: Publicity and Premiums

All publicity and premium materials must include the following:

1. Acknowledgment of Board funding that reads: "Funded by a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board" (in Spanish, "Financiado por una beca del California Integrated Waste Management Board"). Do not use just the initials CIWMB. Exception: The acknowledgment line is not required on small items where space constraints would not allow for this line, or if it would interfere with getting the used oil message (pencils, pens, magnets, etc.). All exceptions must be pre-approved in writing by the CIWMB Grant Manager.

2. Specific information on used oil/used oil filter recycling/disposal.

3. A list of used oil/oil filter collection centers within the targeted community or a telephone number to call for information on local collection centers. When locations are listed, include the following language: "Call for hours of operation."

4. The used oil drop logo with the words "Recycle Used Oil" (in Spanish, "Recicle Aceite Usado") or "Recycle Used Oil and Used Oil Filters" (in Spanish, "Recicle Aceite Usado De Motor y Filtros Usados") as appropriate.

5. The slogan, "Zero Waste – You Make It Happen!" Where space is a constraint, the Grant Manager may allow exceptions which must be pre-approved in writing.

The recycled content of the products purchased with grant funds must be reported in writing. This includes printed materials, premiums, containers, etc. Any exceptions to this requirement must be approved by your grant manager. If the item cannot be found with recycled content; indicate this in writing, and also indicate where you looked to find a similar product with recycled content, and why a different item with recycled content is not applicable for your needs.
