Electronic Product Stewardship

Product Stewardship Support Project

This project is supporting the California Integrated Waste Management Board's participation in the National Electronics Product Stewardship Initiative (NEPSI). The objectives are to document local government costs, concerns, and suggestions and ensure this information is heard loud and clear in the NEPSI dialog and wherever decision-makers are considering steps to strengthen California’s electronics recycling infrastructure.

The CIWMB has retained Boisson & Associates to conduct the project. (See the scope of work in Agenda Item #33 of the CIWMB's February 2002 Board meeting.) Most project tasks are now complete, as described below.

Project Information and Events

Overview of Electronics Product Stewardship Issues (MS Word, 65 KB)
In recent years recycling advocates have increasingly embraced the concept of product stewardship. This overview was prepared to promote a common understanding of product stewardship issues and to update readers on one particular effort--the National Electronics Product Stewardship Initiative (NEPSI).

Product Stewardship Internet Resource Guide
This resource guide lists select Internet Web sites related to product stewardship. It is a companion to the Overview of Electronics Product Stewardship Issues listed above.

Summary of Key Issues from "Listening to Local Government" Workshop (MS Word, 46 KB)
