#### 2005 Net Cost Report Analysis Available ####

A contractor report entitled "California Electronic Waste Recycling Act: Analysis of 2005 Net Cost Reports" has been posted to the California Integrated Waste Management Board's (CIWMB's) Publications website and is now available for review:
http://ciwmb.ca.gov/Publications/default.asp?pubid=1249

The report, prepared by Humboldt State University and R.W. Beck, examines information gathered through required Net Cost Reports submitted annually by approved collectors and recyclers in the covered electronic waste (CEW) recycling payment system. The report presents findings and offers considerations that the CIWMB may factor into future actions such as payment rate adjustments. The report does not make recommendations that the Board will be asked to consider, adopt or approve.

This report will be discussed, along with a preliminary analysis of information derived from 2006 Net Cost Reports, as part of a program update agenda item at the CIWMB's Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting on July 11, 2007.

#### CED Manufacturer Reports Due July 1; Guidance Now Available ####

Pursuant to the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 (Act), as well as implementing regulations, manufacturers of covered electronic devices (CEDs) must report annually to the CIWMB regarding device sales data, hazardous material content, design for recycling plans and progress, retailer notification activities, and consumer information efforts. Manufacturers who fail to report, and who therefore are not in compliance with the Act, may not sell their CEDs in the state. The next report is due July 1, 2007.
