California E-Waste Updates:

This electronic newsletter is an update on the implementation of California`s Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 and other electronic waste (e-waste) management developments in California.

OAL APPROVES CEW PAYMENT SYSTEM FINAL REGULATIONS; NEW PROVISIONS TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) announces that the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) has approved final regulations governing the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system. The regulations, affecting Title 14, California Code of Regulations, Division 7, Chapter 8.2, Articles 1 through 5, take effect immediately.

The CIWMB will host an informational regulatory workshop for interested parties to discuss provisions of the newly approved regulations on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building in Sacramento from 1PM until 5PM.

A general audio web-cast will be available for the proceedings. Web-based participants will be able to submit questions via e-mail during the event through the ewaste@calepa.ca.gov address.

To minimize the potential for costly mistakes, all participants in the CEW payment system are urged to familiarize themselves with the new regulations.
