CIWMB TO HOST WORKSHOP ON PROPOSED REVISIONS TO EMERGENCY REGULATIONS

=====================

#### CIWMB to Host Workshop on Proposed Revisions to Emergency Regulations ####

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) will hold a workshop for interested parties regarding proposed revisions to emergency regulations Wednesday, October 19, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building in Sacramento.

As provided in previous workshops, a general audio "web-cast" will be available. Web-based participants will be able to submit comments via e-mail during the event through the ewaste@calepa.ca.gov address.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own copy of existing regulations and the proposed revisions for reference.

Details:
Program staff presented proposed revisions to existing emergency regulations governing the Electronic Waste Recycling Act's covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system at the CIWMB's October 4, 2005 Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting. In response to competing proposals and a variety of stakeholder concerns, program staff was directed to convene a workshop for stakeholders to further consider and comment on the proposed revisions. Staff will then return to the Committee and Board in November with recommendations.

More information on the workshop can be found at:
www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Electronics/Act2003/Workshops/

The proposed language, an overview of the proposed revisions, the existing emergency regulations, and more information on CIWMB Committee and Board meetings can be accessed through:
